Hello cheers for the reply ill have to get me Dad to have a look at the forum hel be over the moon he did hire someone about 9 years ago to trace hes family but they never found out this much!Like i say my Dads grandmother Florence Mason moved to Abertillery around 1900 and i see on one of the censuses Noah and his wife were there at the time visiting it looks like Florence did keep in contact with her family after all.My Dad was born in Abertillery and can just about remember his Nan flo and grandad Jones,my Nans passed away her Brothers are still alive one lives in South London the others are in Blackwood Gwent,they would be Flos sons.Unfortuneately they no nothing of the Mason family connection and we have only a couple of photos of flo and her husband,now we know we have links with the Tippins and the Coppers that could be another avenue to go down,please email me at this address [deleted] if you can provide any more info id love to hear it.Thanks again all the best Duncan

Nice to hear from you.

Thomas Mason, Noah's father, was born in 1804. He had 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Thomas's father was George Mason born approx 1765. George married Mary Tippins in 1787 at Ruardean. Mary's parents were William Tippins (C1774) and Sarah Wills (C1774). Mary Tippins had one sister, called Sarah who only lived to the age of 1 and 7 brothers. One of her brothers, Richard, was my GG Grandmothers Father. Her name was Jessie Tippins and she married John Christopher Pendrey. They had my G Grandfather Oswald Wilfred Pendrey and their daughter Dorothy Irene Pearl Pendrey is my Nana.

All the Tippins that I could find were born in the Forest but some did move to Wales.

Cornelius Mason born in 1832 was married to Harriet Cooper and they had 7 children. If you would like to contact me on my personal email address it is [deleted]. I was sent some info on the Tippins family by some family who emigrated to New Zealand.

I was interested to read this posting as an Emily Selby was mentioned, married to Edwin Mason.

I believe this is the Emily Selby (1878) mentioned on the 1881 Census as living with John and Emily Selby at Clearwell Mene, stated to be their daughter. However, I could find nothing more about her until fairly recently when looking at the family again and the 1891 Census, I realised that John and Emily's eldest daughter, Ann, who was married to Milson Smith in 1883, had a daughter called Emily (1878) and this filled a piece of the jigsaw. I hadn't got round to looking for a marriage in the name of Smith. However, I think this has solved my problem as on her marriage to Edwin Mason she is named as Emily Selby Smith, and her father as Milson Smith. I will now be able to update the Selby family further by studying the rest of this posting.

I suspect he photograph of Nellace/Nellis is taken in the 1960's, with Nellace being in this Sixties.

me and my Dad have never been able to go back that far weve only ever gone back to 1831 and Jothan and his 3 brothers one of them was Noah would it be possible to tell me any info you have on Noahs father grandfathers etc also about the Tippins family,i.e places of birth and occupations.This is really interesting we must be albeit distantly related as Noah was my Great Grandmothers Grandfather!Have you ever heard anything of a Romany connection?Where me and me Dad were getting confused with a Cornelius Mason is there are 2 on the 1881 census one of 83 living in the Angel pub Highstreet RuarDean with Harriet Smith named as the Grandfather and a retired farmer,and another Corneliue Mason aged 49 a journeyman living at the street RuarDean with his wife Harriet aged 47.Nice to hear from you Emma and please let know anything and keep in touch Regards Duncan

Noah's grandfather George Mason married my GGG Grandfathers sister Mary Tippins.

George and Mary had 8 children, that I have found anyway. One of which was Thomas who married Zilpher Chivers.

I have a Cornelius Mason who was son of John Mason and Dinah Ford but he was born in 1832 and would've been Noah's cousin.

There appear to be rather a lot of Mason's in Ruardean, so 'tis not easy figuring out who belongs to who!

Hi there that was my great grandmothers grand parents,Noah who married Charlotte Barnard we never knew his Father was Thomas and didnt know Zilpha was his Mother.WE had the name Zilpha but never knew it was Noah mother,the family tree i have in front of me list Jothan Mason born 1831,James Mason born 1832,Noah Mason born 1837,Benjamin Mason born 1843.Thats as far as it goes back thats why we are not sure who Cornelius Mason is or if hes even related?We know Benjamin had 8 kids 4 of which were Deaf and Dumb which must of been very hard in those times.My father had someone do some research that said she had found a marriage certificate that states that my grandmother Florence Evelines Masons father was George Mason who was Benjamin Masons son and her mother was Ellen Mason which would make them first cousins!And that they had there Great Uncle Jothan Mason as a witness!Apart from this we know nothing of the Family only the Jones side which was my Grandmother who was brought up in Abertillery,also not sure if the Romany rumours are true.any info anyone might have would be greatfully receaved Thanks Duncan
