I forgot to mention in my previous message that there is an entry for a Mary Jane POWELL aged 26 on the 1881 census at Agincourt Square Monmouth dom. serv. unmarried head of household Alfred WATKINS RG11 5228/26 page 14
Perhaps she later married so her burial entry would be under another surname.I`ll try a search for that using%

On the 1871 census my great great grandparents (William and Mary Anne POWELL) are recorded as living West Dean with their granddaughter Elizabeth Ann(1868), daughter Fanny(1846), and daughter Mary J. (1856)
I have failed to find any other record of Mary J. and would appreciate any help.
