again use Google Maps with "HR1 3QZ" and you are in the correct area for the old orphanage - my suspicion is the farm on the north side of the A417 opposite Olivers - Orls Farm site of the old brick works

The St. George Cottage Home for orphan girls was established in 1867 by Mrs. Heywood of Ocle court. A limited number of children under eight years of age are received, maintained, clothed, educated, and trained in the various branches of household service. A situation is obtained for each girl when she reaches the age of fifteen, and she is sent to service provided with one year's complete outfit of summer and winter clothing, and 10s. placed in her name, deposited in the Savings bank, as a first encouragement to habitual laying up of some small portion of her wages. The present number of inmates is 15.

The Old Orphanage, Ocle Pychard (or Pitchard) Herefordshire

This is on the edge of the territory but does anyone know anything about the Old Orphanage at Ocle Pychard and whether the building is still standing? The Savagar family lived there in 1901 (father was a cattleman on the farm there) but I am not sure if it was still an orphanage at that date or a private residence/farm, and cannot locate it on the ground.

Thank you.
