What is causing me problems is who her husband was?

Working backwards from John Merry age 15 in 1841, DOB 1826. He was at that time living with Thomas NASH in Clay Lane, Ellwood.
I know that John Merry married twice, the second time,1n 1858? to Eliza Powell DOB 1828, when he was 33. I have no knowledge of his first marriage, but his son
William DOB 1853/4 would have been from the first marriage.
Any info would be most welcome.
