Benjamin TRIGG Headache (reply)

I have James Trigg 1822 and Ann Plaistead 1828 in my Family Tree, they are connected not related. Their son Jessie 1855 married Constance Eliza Brain 1857 my half 3rd cousin twice removed. Their son David 1858 married Sarah Anna Acton 1860 and their daughter Rose 1883 married Lewis Harold Meek 1881, my 4th cousin 3 times removed.

I have 4 Edwin Trigg's in my Family Tree, but not the one mentioned in this thread.

Benjamin TRIGG Headache (reply)

Thank you for your inout, Roger, much appreciated.
I had latched onto this other branch of the Triggs - mainly because James Trigg c1820 Westbury married Ann Plaistead in 1847 at westbury.
The Plaiste(a)ds are my husband's family.
Haven't found a link between the two branches as yet - still trying, though :)

Benjamin TRIGG Headache (reply)

Sometimes in these cases it is fruitful to cast the net wider. Trigg is not a common name. I think there were Trigg's at Westbury on Severn (Elton?).

Marriage 4Aug1807 W on S No 289. Thomas Evans born c1781, farmer, and Margaret Trigg born c1787. Both literate, She signed herself Margaretta. Children include a John and an Edwin. OK John is unremarkable but Edwin was rare. These people may have been wider family of what you are looking for.

Good Luck,

Benjamin TRIGG Headache (reply)

Thank you both, Jim and Slowhands. I have spent a few hours toing and froing after your replies. They were a great help.
My reasoning is this:
The Benjamin Trigg who married Mary Marfell was still alive in 1841 (the date of the will).
One of the witnesses to the marriage of Benjamin and Mary was Sarah Trigg.
There is no Sarah Trigg in my Benjamin's family - but Benjamin (son of Richard & Elizabeth) had a sister, Sarah.
(Grief! I was getting confused there for a bit!)
I am going to use this as my basis that my Benjamin Trigg was the son of Benjamin and Priscilla.
It's the only logical answer, although as you say, no definitive proof.

Thank you both for your help
All the best

Benjamin TRIGG Headache (reply)

As Slowhands has mentioned, I have an interest here. I have actually changed my tree relating to the Benjamin Triggs based upon other researchers information. It is however difficult to be absolutely 100% positive. I have a copy of the will for John Marfell, father of the Mary Marfell who married "Benjamin Trigg", but whilst it fits exactly the details of Mary Marfells siblings from both John Marfells marriages to Sarah Bevan & Elizabeth Roberts (born 1769 - daughter of John Drinkwater Roberts)and whilst mentioning Benjamin Trigg, it does not conclusively identify which "Benjamin Trigg". I have copied it below my reply to this question:

My "version" I believe coincides with Slowhands thoughts. As above I cannot be 100% sure:

Benjamin Trigg baptised 30 Sep 1787 was the son of Richard Trigg & Elizabeth Jenkins. He married Mary Marfell.

Benjamin Trigg baptised 28 Aug 1791 was the son of Benjamin Trigg & Priscilla Welsh. He married Elizabeth Roberts (born 1795 - daughter of Moses Roberts) 20 Sep 1813 and on his death Jul 1836, she married John Glover 14 Jan 1837. The Trigg children subsequently appear with John Glover :

Benjamin TRIGG Headache

Absalom (b 1831) was born to Benjamin Trigg and Elizabeth Roberts.
This much is true.

The headache comes with Benjamin.

I hadn't made up my mind as to his parents, but different researchers assured me Benjamin (#1) was born to Benjamin and Priscilla (Welsh) 28/8/1791.

However - now there are researchers who say 'No, that Benjamin married Mary Marfell.'

Which leaves Benjamin (#2) born to Richard and Elizabeth (Jenkins) 30/9/1787.

But then, some of the researchers have Benjamin (#1) born on Benjamin (#2) date.
I have just been through the Parish records (again) to confirm the dates for the two Benjamins and parents.
Each of the researchers trees on genes, tribal & ancestry all have conflicting information.

Are you as confused as I am?
Is there someone out there who can prove which Benjamin is which?
In the meantime, I'm going to take a panadol (or three) :)
