his sister Annice - father's name given as Richard George PRESLEY, Engine Driver…… Annice married at St Mary de Crypt, Gloucester 26 December 1925 - witnesses: George PRESLEY, Ethel PRESLEY

George Richard PRESLEY (the younger) has a very different signature on his marriage certificate - to George PRESLEY who witnessed Annice's wedding.

My name was Yvonne Presley before I was married, my Fathers name was Neale Presley, unfortunately illegitimate, his mother was Gladys Beatrice Presley, who went to Canada in 1925, leaving Neale to be looked after by an Aunt. Gladys's father was Richard Presley, married to Ada Swan, I have not been able to find Richards death anywhere, Ada died in 1930. Richards mother who was Sarah born illegitimate in 1854 in Plaistow, her mother was Margaret Richards, and her mother was Sarah Davis, if you have any information that could help me I would be grateful, and if I can give you anything, I would love to hear from you.

the above person is my great grandmother, her niece vera is my mother who is agad 93 and still going strong
sarah legge was born in 1855 she come from plaistow essex when she was 14 we believe to look after aaunt in chepstow, when she was 16 she had ababy boy named richard we think also agirl named margaret,
she then married arthur presley in chepstow 1873,and had afurther what my mother can remember 13 children of which edmund born 1882 is my mother father.
she can also remember a uncle richard living in gloucester,her one son emigrate to america about 1899 we think and was killed in a fire.

Hi Louise,

I haven't investigated much further since posting this as haven't got to Records office or sent for certificate.Now you have found her which i hadn't I will.

I must adnmit I hit my head that many times I gave up.The family seem to have spread wide and far.I thought Sarah may have been an illegitemate daughter which was why I couldn't find no records.

I will send for her birth certificate.The other Legg(e)s I have been trying to father out is William born 1852 and James born 1849.There mother was a Jane and there father WIlliam.I have presumed as Jane from Uley that William may well be another brother to James Tilley Legge who I am directly related to.Please ask any questions on info that I have on Legg(e)s in the area

Hi Karen,
I am also researching a Sarah Legge. I have found a Sarah Legue born in Plaistow in 1855. On the 1861 she has been mistranscribed and she is listed as Sarah Leque. Her mother is listed as Margaret Lord who was previously Margaret Legge (born in Tidenham Gloucestershire abt 1832). She is married to Edmund Lord in Lancashire 1859. I'm guessing that previously she was married to a Richard Legue/Legge who is Sarah's father? I'm also guessing that Sarah Davies ( also Richards/Pegley) is Margaret's mother? The dates seem to match and Sarah Legge is listed as living with a Sarah Pigley (mistranscribed from Peale) in the 1871 census. She is again listed as being born in Plaistow, Essex.

Thankyou,
I have tried linking in with Margaret Richards to no avail as this seemed the only one of the right age unless Richard Richards got someone pregnant.I wondered whether Margaret had gone to London as a servant and come back pregnant.
My Legges come from Alvington and Lydney and previous to that Uley.I have sent for Richard Legges birth certificate in case the father is on there but he is not on the baptism record on this site.

I am trying to tie Sarah Legge in with the Legges in the Lydney area.According to various census she was born in Tidenham or Plaistow in London.
In 1871 she has an illegitamate son baptised at Chepstow Union called Richard.In the 1881 census Richard is down as Grandson to Sarah Pegley.She was Davis as maiden name,married a Richards who died then married Thomas Pegley.She came from Alvington.She has 2 children from her first marriage Margeret and Richard. In 1883 Sarah Legge gets married to Arthur Presley,her father is down as Richard, and has 14 more children.In the 1911 census she is a widow with no fertility numbers.

I have tried differing combinations looking to find Richard,sarahs birth which i think may be West Ham 1855.This ties in with the 1861 census where there is a Sarah born Plaistow ,right age but her mother was born in Weymouth.No father as he is a sailor.

I need a different set of eyes and Slowhands brilliance
