Was at work at the top of a coal pit, when the wheel of the engine used for drawing up the coal, suddenly broke, and the rope attached thereto entwining round him, threw him between the wheels and crushed him.

FATAL ACCIDENT
On Monday last a man named Thomas AMBRY, who was employed at the mouth of the Wimbley Coal Pit in the FOD for the purposes of lifting off the loads of coal as they were wound up to the surface, accidentally tumbled down the pit and received such severe injuries that he died almost immediately. We understand that he is the third of the same family who have lost their lives in such a manner.
