Jane EYNON born Dymock 1823 (reply)

Hi All,

Further to previous messages on this subject:

Job Eynons(sometimes Onions) married Mary Alder 21st Nov 1815 in Gloucester St Mary de Crypt. Job was a mason and presumably worked in the City although his family were from Dymock Parish. There are many spellings of this name.
Job and Mary had 4 children: William b.1819 (my GGGrandfather),Jane b.1822 married Charles Clay, Richard b.1823 and Ann b.1826 married Hayward Coopey.
I have further information on this family if any of you are interested I can send Family Trees etc.

my home email is rigbard@aol.com

Jane EYNON born Dymock 1823 (reply)

I have a Job Eynon born in Dymock who may be connected to the family.
In 1851 Elizabeth Soul was visiting Job and Mary Eynon. Elizabeth's maiden name was Alder, and Mary Eynon's date and place of birth would fit with her being Elizabeth's sister Mary Alder b1787 in Ashleworth. I have not been able to find any marriage record, nor details of their offspring so any help would be appreciated.
Elizabeth's married name was actually SAUL, husband Josiah Saul of Oddington. She is my GGGrandmother.

Jane EYNON born Dymock 1823 (reply)

With Eynon being such an unusual name I would imagine that most are linked. The canal and river system was a mass employer, the only real means of industrial transport before railways, and various coalfields and ironworks mean that many family memebers migrated to other parts of the country.

Jane EYNON born Dymock 1823 (reply)

I am presently investigating whether there are Eynons related to the Steade side of my family. According to the Mormon records they are. My Eynons (if indeed they are related, and if they are, they will be related to my great, great, great, great grandfather's brother's daughter's side of the family!). It appears these were from Pembrokeshire but some of them moved closer to the Forest of Dean, e.g. one lived in Merthyr Tydfil. I haven't looked at them very closely but I am wondering if there could be a connection. They appear to have had jobs related to the sea and docks in Pembroke but also in other ports.
There are a number of these who might fit the bill and who have Jane incorporated into their names. The person to whom my family might be related was called George Eynon, born 1800 and he had a large number of siblings who would be old enough to be the parent of the Jane you're looking for. George and his brother James do not appear to have a daughter which fits the bill but you might find other brothers who might.

Jane EYNON born Dymock 1823 (reply)

You probably already know this? In 1841 there are just 38 people in England called Eynon, in Gloucestershire there are 7. a lodger? Job or John in Kingsholm Gloucester age 45 a bricklayer. Also Ann Eynon age 20 and her son Charles age 2 months are with Robert Williams age 60 and what is probably his son William age 20, they are in Norton just up the Tewksbury road from Kingsholm and Gloucester. There actually is a Jane Eynon born 1806 in Stoke Damerell, Devon.

Marriage Dymock 1772, John Eynons married Elizabeth Wanniat

baptisms Dymock, all said to be children of Job and Sarah Eynon
1883 - James Wanniat Eynon 15th June
1884 - John Eynon 16th May
1886 - Elizabeth Eynon 14th April
1892 - Mary Eynon 15th Jan
So it looks like Elizabeth and Sarah were siters who married brothers? Fred
