Thanks - That response was more quickhands than slowhands - I had thought it might refer to a hostel or workhouse but I suppose Normans Head falls within the area known loosely as The Common - and I know my GGrandfather resided at 92 The Common some 60 years later.

In the 1841 Census my ancestors are recorded under Woolaston as residing at Normans Head - and there are other families listed under this placename - does anyone know whereabouts in Woolaston is Normans Head ?
