Both baptisms 1753 & 1755 are detailed on this web site.

As Colin has stated, the witness at Priscilla's marriage to John Gagg was Francis Meek (the other witness Joseph Harper is a Church official and is witness to countless marriages)

I have both Priscilla's 1753 & 1755 in my Family Tree Priscilla 1755 is a first cousin 7 times removed, Priscilla 1753 is a 6 X Great Aunt. Priscilla Meek 1753 was the daughter of George Meek 1714 & Margaret. George Meek 1714 had a brother Francis 1716.

The IGI is a very useful tool, but if possible their findings should be verified by other sources.

We are obviously related, but I had not picked up Lydia's marriage to William Bennett and would like to learn more, perhaps you could click on the envelope icon and send an email and perhaps we can both learn more.

Priscilla baptised 30Sep1753 (daughter of George & Margaret) is listed in the Parish Records as Prisila.
Priscilla (baptised 7Sep1755) is listed as the daughter of James and Elizabeth.

(A) Priscilla married John Gagg on 5Sep1775 and was either g5-aunt (twice) or 1st cousin 6 times removed! Her father's name is not given though one of the witnesses was a Francis Meek which doesn't help as the only Francis baptised around this time had parents called Thomas and Sarah.

My Meek records of this period are pretty thin - maybe Jim can fill in more details.

Ooops- sorry - 1755. This posting was in reply to jimashton, Tuesday, November 20, 2007, where he stated that Priscilla Meek (born 1753-daughter of George and Margaret) was the wife of John Gagg, while both the IGI and this website list a Priscilla (born 1755 in Ruardean)as being married to John Gagg. I'm just seeking clarification of which is the correct Priscilla. Priscilla is my 5th great grandmother through her daughter Lydia Gagg. Lydia married William Bennett in 1796 but I have not yet figured out who his parents are and which family he belongs to.

I'm not sure I've fully understood your question, a few more details from you would help...

Are you seeking a baptism of Priscilla Meek in 1755 and mistakenly listed the year as 1855?

I am unable to find the baptism you are referring to in the parish records on this website in either 1755 or 1855. What parish did you find the details?

Would you tell us the the names of the connecting people to the Priscilla you are seeking.

Hi. According to the IGI and the parish records, Priscilla Meek was christened in 1855 and her parents were John Meek and Elizabeth Roberts. I can't find a record of a Priscilla with different parents. I would be grateful if you have any info to suggest that this is not the right Priscilla Meek. Thanks so much.
