This all proves to me that we have to be open minded about how people's surnames have been spelt, misspelt and recorded (and perhaps sometimes transcribed). However one would not automatically think to look at League if the name were Teague and this is probably how some relatives get missed in a quest for the total picture!

Thanks for the information i'm not sure at the moment but i've printed the transcript in case.my wife's ancestory line is also teague,as well as my own i believe i've traced her line back to 1820.my wife's line mainly involve the teagues of mitcheldean,including alfred eaton teague the rugby player.

Could you please give me the dates and places of birth of William Henry Phelps and his father Fred/Frederick Phelps married to Daisy? I cannot proceed until I have these dates as there were many Phelps of similar names both in Yorkshire and Gloucestershire. Best wishes Jean Herbert

Thanks for the contact i'mm afraid i will be of no help at the moment i have only just started on reseach and have started on my mothers tree,i can tell you howether that my father was William Henry Phelps and his father was Fred married to Daisy,would apreciate information from anyone.my knowledge is only from my grandfather onwards.

My husband, a Herbert, is descended from a marriage of a Phelps and Herbert in Gloucestershire. The family then moved to Yorkshire and settled in several mining villages, the main ones being Normanton. It might be interesting to compare notes to see if you have the same ancestry. The Herbert/Phelps union was of Thomas Herbert born abt 1850 East Dean - died 1901 Normanton Yorkshire. His wife was Elizabeth Phelps born abt 1851 East Dean, no confirmed date of death as yet. Two of Elizabeths brothers also came with them and married and had issue in Yorkshire.

I am wondering if Juiiie Hill from Hereford is still in contact,i have just started to take interest in ancestory and would very much like to contact her, alan teague of berryhill also seems to have originated from the same roots,my grancher George Teague was son of George Teague who was son of George who married Harriet Aston in 1846.my grancher married Julia Morgan nee yearsley of bream clements end in 1906.my grancher was also born in yorkshire oulton,i seem to have relations in yorksire cumbria New Zealand and australia,if anyone can had to my tree please contactd.
