Maria ROBERTS married Sydney George WATKINS in 1879. The new information that was given to me is that Maria had a son prior to her marrige and he was baptised Richard George ROBERTS. There is no fathers name stated on either his birth certificate or his baptism which is below.

I've just revisited the previous thread above after being in contact with David Watkins (my namesake and 3rd cousin) who lives in London.

Ann and William ROBERTS are David's ancestors through their daughter Sarah Ann ROBERTS (b.1853) who married Joseph JONES. Sarah Ann and Joseph had a daughter Elizabeth Ann (b.1877) who married Ernest WATKINS.

At the time of the previous thread we did not have the transcribed records of the Forest of Dean Bible Christian (Ruardean Chapel) and were we confusing Sarah Ann ROBERTS with another with the same name?

David tells me he has the birth certificate of Sarah Ann ROBERTS born 4 May 1853 Ruardean Woodside to father William collier and Ann (nee Griffiths)

* I cannot find a marriage of William and Ann in the parish records.

It also appears that Maria ROBERTS born about 1859 is a sister to Sarah Ann.

Maria married Sydney George WATKINS 23 Nov 1879 at Drybrook of which I have the certificate. Witnesses Mary Ann Reed (possibly nee Roberts as above) and James Reed.
