Eight of the parishes formed a block of land crossed by the river Leadon, one of the Severn’s major tributaries, immediately to the north-west of Gloucester. They are Ashleworth, Bulley, Hartpury, Lassington, Maisemore, Rudford and Highleadon, Tibberton, and Upleadon.
