I am also trying to find out more about Jasper Reed. (I am descended from his son George). It would appear that he was illegitimate "base son" of Hannah Read. As Reid (so many spellings!) has become a family name for us it's ironic thet it would have been a different name altogether if we had known the name of his father !
If anyone has any clues would be fab.
Also if anyone has any info about the Reed family in 1911 other than the census I would be very grateful as I am trying to establish why the family had no contact with Jasper's Granddaughter, Phoebe Ann's children after her death in 1913.

Hi Roggcar, I have just come across your post and noticed we are researching the same Jasper Reed. I will send you an email so we can compare notes. I'm affraid I'm at the same point as you regarding the parents of Jasper, but I would like to compare Jaspers children etc.

Jasper is my gt gt gt gt grandfather and my line is through his daughter Mary Ann Reed born 1837
