Yes. And yes, all of the locations I've found them in are to the west of FOD- Risca, Trevethan, Pontypool. I found no website directed specifically at that area, so I tried here. Is there a more appropriate forum in Wales that you are aware of where Icould try instead?

Richard Grundy and Margaret Williams (reply)

Next door? Aren't they all in the same house? Thomas Jones is not listed, and Richard died in 1855. In the 1850 census for Shenango Twp., Lawrence, Pa., page 154, are:

Richard Grundy 70
Margaret Grundy 60
Mary Grundy 30
Thomas Grundy 5
Richard Grundy 2
John Grundy 18
Richard Grundy 16
James Grundy 14

all born in England. Where is Thomas Jones Senior, I wonder? He's missed two census counts in a row since being counted in Wales in 1841. In the 1860 Federal census another problem is James,24, and Mary, 23. They married within a year of the census. But the James I'm looking for has a child with Bridget Dolan from Ireland, Richard Edward, in either 1860 or 1861. But those problems are all on this side of the water. Clearly Mary Grundy married Thomas Jones in Wales, then came to the US with her folks, and she is still having kids named Jones, so there is a Jones connection right here. But who do they come from in Wales?

Richard Grundy and Margaret Williams

This is a bit west of you folks, but here goes:
Richard Grundy married Margaret Williams 13 May 1816 in Raglan, Monmouthshire. They had eight, perhaps nine, children: Edward, William, Mary Ann, Elizabeth, Margaret, maybe a Lydia, John, Richard, and James. In the 1841 Census Margaret is listed in one location with three of the children, Richard Jr. is living with Thomas and Mary Ann Jones, and one Richard, age 50, is in the Monmouth Gaol serving out a fine. I think maybe his age (50) is a mistake, that he is 60. At any rate, he turns up again in 1850 in the US Census of Shenango Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, with wife Margaret, sons Richard, John, and James, and daughter Mary and two new children, Thomas (5 years old) and Richard (2) who I believe are the progeny of Thomas Jones and Mary Ann. Thomas Jones is absent. Any information on this clan would be greatly appreciated. I believe them to be the family of my wife and have a clear trail on them to 1870, somewhat less clear to 1860 and 1850. Richard the elder died in 1855 in Mahoning Township.
