Old Mill, Pencraig (reply)

Sorry have come on this one a bit late. Clement Hall/Adeline, nee Bodenham, are in my wifes direct line and have much information on them. In 1911 census Clement Hall is with family at Wonaston Mill (In village of Mitchel Troy, Monmouth). Prior to this from about 1892 to at least 1895, he was a miller/farmer at Coughton Mill Walford. In 1901 census he is shown as at Upper Lydbrook. In 1918 Clement Hall 2nd married whilst living at Old Gore. Am aware from other correspondents that there is also a William Clement Hall in area of Goodrich at same time, but neither are related to each other. Interested in ref to fire. Would love to hear from you

Pencraig - British History Maps dated 1891 (reply)

British History on Line

maps of each County -

http://www.british-history.ac.uk/map.aspx?compid=55120

you'll have to click on each square to see particular areas which you can then maximum and minimise

This isn't technical...... but (Pencraig seems above Goodrich and Ross on Wye...).

looking at the map, there are three square on the bottom row, and the next line there's five. Clicking on the middle one, there is an old corn mill?

Old Mill, Pencraig

HALL family living here census 1911. Clement Hall Miller and Baker. Glewstone/Goodrich/Pencraig seem to all merge together when trying to find anything. Reserched lots of mills in the general area, but none fit. It was a derelict in the 1950's when the family revisited it. They left the main road and turned into a lane to get to it. You could see the mill from the side of the road. It burnt down circa 1913. Possibly the A40 has been built over it.

Any suggestions or details of maps would be appreciated. We think the Halls went to Blakeney after the fire and (William) Clement Hall became a miner, then a Baker again in 1918.
