I've found a William Powell who married Harriet Davis in 1885 (Newport volume 11a page 298). If you think this may be the right one (hopefully you will have your grandmother's birth certificate which will tell you) and get the marriage certificate you will then have William's father's name. It will then be easier to find him on the 1881 and 1871 census returns. I'm a member of Ancestry and I'm more than willing to look them up for you. I've had a quick look but without the name of at least one parent its a bit like looking for the proverbial needle as there are so many William Powells.

82 Year old needs HELP Please.

I have found records of my Grandmothers Baptism,Marraige and possible death on this site,but am unable to find any ref to her Father.
He was WILLIAM POWELL Born according to the 1891 Census in 1864 at ShireNewton,Monmouthshire.

In the 1991 Census he is,
Living in Rosmary Lane,Tidenham, Beachley,Monmouthshire.

Eliza Ann Powell born 1888 Tidenham This was my Grandmother.

Have tried all sources,Find my Past, G.Reunited but can find nothing about
William. Could some kind soul help please.
