Amelia DYER ? (reply)

Hi there
This is probably her re: the marriage record. Suprised to see it so late though, changes the word-of-mouth I was given about James and her arriving in Oz in the 1860s. And she was definitely an Amelia Ann, so I don't think the other Amelia is her. But you never know! Thanks for the info.

WAYMAN/John VIRGO WAYMAN - (reply)

Unfortunately, I don't know as yet. Have only just started the Wyman side of my tree. I have been told it was the 1860s, but will need to find the record of immigration. Now that I know he was most likely recorded as James 'Wayman', it will be easier. Stay tuned!
PS 'Virgo' or 'Virgoe' is name that appears in my tree a few generations back, so interesting to see here. Tells me I'm probably on the right track, I guess.

Wyman/Wayman - Lydney, Blakeney & surrounds

Greetings from Australia! I am researching my family tree, and have hit a road block. My great-great grandfather was the first Wyman to immigrate to Australia, but I have a sneaking suspicion that 'Wyman' may not be the actual spelling of his surname. This is causing me some trouble, so I'm hoping someone out there can help.
He was James Wyman or Wayman (born in Lydney 1847-ish), married to Amelia Ann (her surname was very likely Dyes). His parents, according to my records, were William (born in Blakeney 1801-ish) and Sarah Thomas. James possibly had a brother called John.
I have information that traces the family back to the 1600s, but I have doubts regarding the accuracy, so any and all info is appreciated. I hope to hear from someone out there soon!
