Yes, I tried the Consular BMD records, but no trace of an Alfred Syner in Buenos Airies in late 1880s/early 1890s.

You might be interested to know that Alfred and Hannah Syner (nee Weston) had a 3rd child, Mary Hannah Syner b.1885 (GRO reg. Newport vol.11A p.172). She was brought up by her aunt & uncle, Mary Jane & Thomas Scard, at 4 Jones Street (next door to her mother at no. 6 Jones St.) She can be found on the Census of 1891, 1901 & 1911, though the spelling of her surname is incorrect.
The daughter of the above Mary Hannah Syner, now in her 90s, is a friend of mine.

Buenos Aires is correct. It was reported in the press that he died on July 30 aged just 26. Allegedly from malaria but there is another version of events.

Alfred John SYNER b.1864

Has anyone any information on the above person?

My research shows him on the 1871 census living in Newport with his parents Alfred b.1841, mother b.1842, brother Richard W b.1866 & sister Florance b.1868
I also know he married Hannah Weston in Newport in 1883 and together they had 3 children, John E b.1884, Mary Hannah b.1885 & Florence A b.1888. In 1891 Census Hannah is registered as a widow.
There is anecdotal evidence to show that the place of his death may have been Buenos Aires.

Any further clues out there?
