He died on 30th September 1958 (gravestone is quite clear on this) and was born in Feb 1879 which also fits. I would have expected a FoD death registration but he presumably died in hospital in Gloucester.

Thanks for the photos of the gravestones.

As per my email to you, I have played around with the images in Photoshop and for the sake of the posting, I can now see the death of Albert Edward Williams is 30 Sep 1958 aged 79. Details for Laura are still unclear, except that I think like you that the Month is February and she was 69 which would make it 1949 - having said that gravestones are not always accurate.

When I am going gravestone searching, I usually take a wire brush !!

I am still trying to figure out the extra Meek links you have just given me but I think I have the basics of the Samuel Williams / Abia Read connection.

We are talking about the same Albert Williams - William (1843) and William (1808) were my great and great-great grandfathers respectively. Albert and Laura (and also William - 1843) as well as Thomas and Annie Bertha Meek are buried in the Ruardean Hill Baptist Church churchyard. Albert and Laura used to live in the house directly opposite - now split into two properties. I will mail you copies of the gravestone photos separately.

Just trying to catch up, having got back from Antwerp after the birth of my first grandson - entry number 21505 in my family tree.

I can add other marriages, you may already be aware of; Nancy Aileen Meek married Allen Marfell 1918 in 1943. Gordon James Meek married Roslyn May Woodward & their son is a family tree contact of mine - I have sent him a link for this posting !

Regarding Annie Bertha's marriage to a Thomas Meek 1870. I have a Thomas Meek 1870 son of John Meek 1845 & Hannah Jordon. There would be a family connection here as John Meek 1845 is the son of Moses Meek 1800 & Sarah Tippins 1803, so John Meek 1845 is the brother of Elijah Meek 1824 who is in turn the father of Jabez Meek 1865, who is of course the father of Alfred James Meek - where we came in.

Regarding Laura's marriage to Albert Edward Williams. I have an Albert Williams 1879 School Teacher, son of William Williams 1843 & Mary. The only reason he is in my family tree is that William Williams 1843, son of William Williams 1808 had a brother Samuel Williams 1847 who married Abia Read 1852, in turn daughter of James Read 1820 & Letticia Yemm 1821. 3 of Leticia's siblings married Marfell's.

Can you tell me where the gravestones were Colin.

Of more interest to me is Laura (25Jul1879 - 2 ? Feb1948 - dates from gravestone are a little unclear) who married my great-uncle Albert Edward Williams (24Feb1879 - 30Sep1959) in 1907. They had three daughters, Edna Christine (1909), Flora (1913) and Dulcie (1915) who I visited recently just before she celebrated her 95th birthday.
