Monmouth Independent Chapel (reply)

Hi Tony
1861 Census RG9/3987 Page 18 actually says Independent Chapel(not Congregational Chapel). It is in Glendower Street so presumably this and the Congregational Chapel are one and the same as it appears to be in the same place. Hope this helps.

Monmouth Independent Chapel (reply)

Hi Tony

Monumental inscriptions at Congregational Church, Glendower Street, Monmouth, Gwent

The LDS have address as above have searched google for it, and found it, although it is a private house now, still very impressive.

When I was visiting Monmouth a few years ago I asked in museum if they had any photos of which she had in a book which she showed me. I took a photo of how it is now will look for it and send you a copy.

Try google maps looking for Glendower Street, it has railings outside now painted pale blue, good luck.

Not totaly sure

There were "non conformist" venues tucked away in the Town.....

Area of St Marys St and Whitecross St would seem likely targets

There was a Wesleyan Methodist in a house in St. Thomas Street Monmouth

Chapel House, North Parade Monmouth, just before the Osbaston Road, is a boarding house
for Monmouth School. Dating from the 1700s,
it is a large Grade II listed building with a terraced garden leading down to the River Monnow.
It was converted in the mid-1980s to its current use, before which it served as a boarding
house for Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls. It is the only boarding house with a garden.
