Gypsy /Travellers (reply)

I cant help myself - in the woods :-)

there are a few replies in this forum where I have identified ( roughly) where the encampments tended to be - i.e. near Horsepool Bottom

Moseley Green was also a favoured area (nr Parkend)

Norman Thomas and Annie Fletcher Parkend

Can anyone recall Annie Fletcher or Norman Thomas in the Forest of Dean ? They married as so I am told in Parkend in the 1930s. Norman worked for the Meredith family farmers at Ross on Wye and and at Mitchel Troy farm near the convent. Then went on with them to Waterperry in Oxfordshire.I am also looking for information on Ted Fletcher I believe he lived in field shelter near the Vine Tree pub at Ross on Wye. An information would be good.My mum had a brother called Douglas Fletcher and I believe he was born in Parkend and the families were travellers. If anyone can help on where they would have been sited in Parkend please let me know to step back in history.I am now in Parkend myself to trace my family tree. But I am at a standstill.
