Diary of Alfred HARRIS (reply)

I too saw the Journal of Alfred Harris several years ago; and because my family came from Whitecroft, and because it was written in no particular order, for my own use only I typed up the whole thing in a table and sorted by date. Quite a task! I found several mentions of my family and the 'goings on' in the village were 'delightful'. I found the grocery price lists were particularly interesting.

The Journal of Alfred Harris (reply)

Joyce

I can remember the Web pages and from some notes I have it was called the "The Journal of Alfred Harris" the details were put together by David Haynes, Alfred's great grandson. How to contact David Haynes I do not know.

There was a lot of very good information from what I can remember in the Journal which would be of great help and interest to many of us. If you would like to send me the PDF documents I will see what I can do about putting it into a single file and reducing the total size. If no copyright is noted I would put it on the Web site with a proviso, that if requested by the author it would be removed.

Details of where to send them to me are on our Documents and Articles web page:

Diary of Alfred HARRIS

Some years ago the dairy of Alfred HARRIS (born 15 December 1839) who lived at Whitecroft was made available on the internet and I saved a copy of this. I believe it is no longer available and I was wondering if it would be of interest to the Forum. I found it very useful as it referred to my ancestor William TOOZE. It is not indexed and not in strictly chronological order, but it is a fascinating look at his life and times. There is also a photo of him. There at 21 pdf's and the whole file is about 19MB.
