Explantory Notice

BIRTHS

The birth of any child born after June 1837 *may be registered* by the registrar of the district in which the child was born, within six weeks after the birth, *without any payment being required*.

After six weeks, and within six months, the expense of registering will be *7s 6d. After six months the birth cannot be registered at all.

Think about £28 + in today's money. Not sure what the average wage was for the FOD folk in 1837! although this site
