I have Hale's in my line and found the following website invaluable, it's a huge site covering Hale's throughout the West Country and beyond. However I've just realised it's listed within the Links here so perhaps "old" news..?..
http://halefamily.net/about.html
At bottom of the page is a "search box".
Hope it helps.

Moses HALE 1838 Merthyr - Prior Thread ( Berry Hill area) (reply)

Thank you slowhands. Yes the non conformists might be the block. I have found the baptism of Moses/Emma's first two children (Julia Ann & Sarah Jane) in the Coleford Congregational records. I also found the burial for John Thomas Webb (son of Moses half brother Charles Webb)at Coleford Congregational as well.
Will try to contact cmwilce1988, but this user does not to appear to be using this site now.

Regards

Moses HALE ? Ruardean (reply)

Hi slowhands

I believe that that the Moses and Emma you show are a different pair. I think this Emma is Emma Mabe who married Moses in 1854 and that they had a child Abia born 1861 (think she may have been their only child).
Both pairs show up on the 1881 census with the 1832 Moses and his Emma in Westbury-on-Severn and the 1838 Moses in West Dean.
Checking the freebmd there were only three marriages for a Moses Hale to an Emma on their records. Thanks for the input

Moses Hale 1838

I have Moses Hale on the 1841 to 1881 census. On the 1841 census he is living with his mother Isabella Webb and his stepfather John Webb in Newlands. Moses was born in Glamorgan but this is only shown on the 1851 census, on subsequent census his place of birth is given as West Dean. He married Emma King in 1861 and they had 7 children although I can only find baptism's on this site for 4 of the children. I have no trace of Moses after 1881, no census info and no obvious death. I also cannot find Emma on the 1891 census but may have found her on the 1901 - need to check that. Any help finding Moses would be appreciated.
