Coleford Cemetery Map (reply)

No worry Carol, your relatives were buried in the Consecrated Section (North Division) of the cemetery, also called section B. The original map of the cemetery showed the sections to be as on the new map but somewhere along the line, someone thought it would be better to make the designations A,B,C,D to appear in a clockwise form which caused more than a few problems especially for those seeking their relatives graves such as yours.
Chris

Coleford Cemetery Map (reply)

Hi Chris, Arrived back home a week ago but have been sick with Bronchitis. Haven't gone through all my paperwork I gathered yet.
With regard to the Coleford Map Cemetery does that mean that William Shott is not buried where you thought?

Coleford Cemetery Map (reply)

Unfortunately, the map of Coleford Cemetery located in Miscellaneous Documents is incorrect. It seems that at some time, possibly in the 1930's, someone decided to remodel the map which should read, clockwise, A B D C into ABCD (to make it look tidy presumably). I will e-mail a correction based on the original architects drawing/map of the cemetery crafted in 1868.

SHOTT/PORTER (reply)

I don't know anything about Mary Ann Porter's first husband.
William Shott died 21st Nov 1927 (I have Death Certificate)
Mary Ann Shott (Porter) died 15th Sep 1933 (have Death Certificate)
When I come over to England in April I would like to visit their graves in Coleford.
How and where would I get a map of Coleford Cemetery?
I was hoping that Mary Porter would have had children from her first marriage in coleford.
Thanks for your help.
