I noticed (in 1841) there was an Ann Trew age c45 and a daughter (?) Ann age 13 at Catshill, Ruardean.

Ann was a Pike Keeper.

Can make out Charles (looks like Hites) and the Surname seems to begin with a letter Tarw? (the enumerator, seems to write T's (see Thomas) - and he's male age 48.

A Ruardean Toll Collector

The first census entry for the village of Ruardean (HO107/365/10/4/1) in 1841 is a 48-year-old toll collector living on the 'Hystreet'. I am interested to know his name which has not apparently been indexed correctly in the online census sources. The enumerator, John Penn, has fairly legible handwriting but this first entry must have been written before his pen warmed up. If you can decipher the name of this Gloucestershire-born toll collector I would appreciate hearing from you.
