Trying solve a riddle regarding my great grandfather Richard Merrick and how he came to lose his farm in Redmarley. His father, William, left a reasonable amount of property in his will to his sons and daughters but family rumour has it that in the late 1880's or early 1890's my Richard lost a substantial amount in an investment scandal and ended up working on the railways in Wales. Would be delighted if anyone could help
