Alfred HARRIS & Elizabeth MORTIMORE - West Dean (reply)

Thank you, slowhands. Makes more sense to pursue that record for Elizabeth to see if she is my correct Elizabeth Harris.

I have sent for various birth, marriage, and death certificates from the GRO to confirm various Harris and Mortimore individuals. Once I receive them, how is the best way to post further information I have on them that somemone else might be interested in? Should I just add on to this "thread" or start a new one? Rather unsure on this procedure. I anticipate having further documents tying in Elizabeth Mortimore Harris and husband Alfred to daughter Elizabeth who emigrated to US and her husband and children. I also anticipate being able to tie in Elizabeth Mortimore Harris' sister Sarah Mortimore and her husband and children who emigrated to the U.S.

Thanks for your help and advice.
Cindy T

Alfred Harris & Elizabeth Mortimore (reply)

Alfred Harris born abt 1840 West Dean, Gloucestershire and Elizabeth Mortimore born abt 1845 Bristol, Gloucestershire and married April 1865 Holy Trinity, Stratford On-Avon.

Looking for information on date, place of Elizabeth's death. Could she be the Elizabeth Harris who died at 80 years of age on 4 June 1925 residence Nailbridge?

They are my husband ggrandparents. I am new to research in FoD so still putting a lot of dots together. Would like to correspond with anyone else interested in them. I have information on their daughter Elizabeth Harris born abt 1877 as well as more information on Elizabeth Mortimore Harris' sister Sara Mortimore (both of whom emigrated to the U.S.)

But for now, any help on death of Elizabeth would be appreciated. Thanks,

Alfred HARRIS & Elizabeth MORTIMORE - West Dean

Previous Connecting thread

TIPPINS/MORTIMORE - West Dean, C19
http://www.forum.forest-of-dean.net/index.php?mode=thread&id=3965

------------------------

Hello Kirsty,

My name is Cindy Thomas and I am researching my husbands ancesters in FoD. I just came across this marvelous resource site yesterday and am thrilled. I can already see it is going to hold so many answers to questions we have been searching for many years. His paternal lines are all from FoD. I need to study how the fourm format really works because I have never participted in one before. But I had to post at least one query to see if I get a reply. I'm not even at a location where I have my material with me so can't get too specific right now.

What I do know is that your Elizabeth (Mortimer) and Alfred Harris are my husband's great grandparents. Their daughter Elizabeth (born abt 1878) emigrated to U.S. and married Charles William Thomas. They returned to FoD in 1900 for a period of about 8 years. They had four children, one of which (Reginald born FoD in 1900) is my husband Graham's father.

I am trying to fill in all the huge holes we've had over the years. But for now I hope you can answer or shed light on another person. That would be William & Ann Mortimer's daughter Sarah (b abt 1842). Do you know anything about her?

Because I am new to the site and have been unsuccesfully searching for a while, I have a feeling she might be a missing link I need. My Sarah Mortimer's father was William and mother's name was unknown. My Sarah was born in Bristol in 1842 and married Mark Thomas abt 1860 and emigrated to the U.S. abt 1873-76.

If interested, I will fill in more of what I know if we are on the right track with the same people. In the meantime, I'll study how to post the threads so they make sense with names and dates. Look forward to hearing back from you.

Cindy
