I do not have Elijah Herbert & Jane in my Family Tree, but I do have an Elvina Herbert born 1874 Little Dean. Elvina is such an unusual name that it is possible that we may have a link further back and might benefit from sharing information, if you wish to do so, please use my email link shown on this posting.

The parents of my 1874 Elvina Herbert were Dennis Herbert 1837 & Amelia Brain. At their marriage 2.10.1858 Drybrook, Dennis Herbert's father was shown as William Grey, so I would guess he was illegitimate - his parents being William Grey & Asina Herbert. Going back 3 generations from Asina Herbert leads you to one of my 6 times great grandparents William Herbert born abt. 1720 & Margaret Wood, their marriage taking place at Walford 2.2.1745.

I also have a connection to George Dobbs and will be replying to that posting separately. I note that his parents were George Dobbs & Lavinia Herbert, whose mother was Jane born Berry Hill 1818 - is this your Jane ?

Elijah died prior to 1851 as his wife Jane is shown as a Widow on 1851 census, but I do not know exact date of death.

Jane was last found on 1871 census living with her daughter Levina Dobbs and Levina's husband George Dobbs and children. I would also like to find out when Jane died. Regards Jean Herbert
