Thank you very much for all this. Other relatives who had researched Symphyrosa a few years ago presumed she had died and so did I. Instead I find she was married three times, had at least two children and had other relatives staying with her from time to time proving that she was in touch with them. I now hope that Mr. Payne will get back in touch as when he put his posting on here at an earlier date I did not realise the connection!

Are you therefore Thomas Stirrup/Payne's great-grandson? Teresa Agnes is my first cousin three times removed. I would be happy to hear more about Symphirosa as she has been a mystery to me. Also see my earlier posting as I have a photograph of your great-grandfather's half sibling's [Martha Matilda Stirrup]'s first two children. You might also be able to solve the mystery as to why your great-grandfather changed his name from Stirrup to Payne. I am assuming he was adopted on the death of his mother (Matilda Martha). Also I notice he had a twin sister who appears to have died in infancy and another sister Margaret Elizabeth.

Hi Jacki,

Recently logged on to this site as I have interest in the Rook(e) family.
Teresa Agnes Rook(e), sister of Urban, became the second wife of my great grandfather in Swansea, Glamorgan whom she married on 17 May 1891.
I can provide a resonable amount of details for her pre marriage, and details including children after the marraige.
I also have details of her sister Sympho Rosa who was living in Swansea in 1881 and I believe married there in 1881 but her spouse is still a mystery at present. Any knowledge?

Thank you for trying to help.Much appreciated.However this is not the Nellie Teague I am researching.I have her baptism from the Parish Records on this sight and her whereabouts in 1901.She had a son Elton who died in 1910 aged 6 yrs.After this date I can find no record of her.Whether she married or when she died.
She was the daughter of Sarah Teague-no father's name.

I am related to Urban Rook, according to my records he is my first cousin three times removed! I know little of his branch of the family but his father's brother was my great-great grandfather: Thomas Rook. Urban's father being Paul Rook.I know why he had such an unusual name: it's because they were Catholics (he's probably named after Pope Urban)however I also know that he was not a Catholic when an adult and that one of his direct descendants did not know that the family had been R.C. when one of my mother's cousins traced her. In fact they were recusants and there is evidence of this elsewhere as well as the evidence I have of it. He also had a sister called Symphirosa (another saint's name), another sister called Maria and two brothers: Joseph and Charles. I think their mother was called Hannah. The surname is sometimes spelt: Rooke.
If you need more information I can supply it.

The Nellie who married Charles Rooke is not Nellie daughter of Sarah Teague.

I have not found any further info on her yet other than the son she had Elton Clarence in 1904, who died 1910.
