Hi Jean,

My cousin's wife Glenolva Baglin is also a great grand daughter of Ephraim and Edith Baglin (Ephraim b.1837 > Daniel b.1875 > Harry b.1901 > Glenolva b.1925).

As for Ephraim's ancestors, I believe his father Thomas Baglin b.1811 was the son of Daniel Baglin b.1777 and Mary Dobbs b.1781 who married in 1832. Daniel Baglin b.1777 was the son of Daniel Baglin b.1744 and Sarah Tucker who married in 1770. By repute Daniel, the elder b.1744, was the child of John Baglin and Sarah Unknown. More research is needed, which is not helped by differing spellings, even in the BMD Registers where Baglin becomes Boylin, Bagland et al. But we will overcome!

Once again Slowhands, thank you. From your posts I deduce that the father of Ephriam is Thomas Baglin. That has cleared up a large gap in my tree. Brilliant work Sherlock.

Ephriam Baglin was born abt 1836 possibly in West Dean. The 1841 census shows him as age 5 living with his grandfather Daniel Baglin in West Dean. (Ephriam is transcribed as Abraham and his surname as Bagland).I have no record of his birth or baptism.
1851 census shows him as age 14 still living with his grandfather in West Dean
1861 Ephriam married Edith Hawkins in Monmouth Q4 vol 11a page 42.
I have no record of his death nor that of his wife.
Can anyone tell me who Ephriam's parents were? Regards Jean Herbert
