The following gives you some ways of obtaining Wills of Forest of Dean people.

You can search the Gloucestershire Archives for Wills proved at Gloucester from 1541 to 1858.

If you find a Will of interest, it can be ordered from the Glos Archives, contact details are on the following web page.

Gloucestershire Archives also hold copies of 83 Volumes, containing 42,000 Wills proved in the Gloucester Probate Court between 1858-1941. Approximately 7,000 of these Wills relate to Forest of Dean people. Unfortunately, they do not have these Wills indexed or have a process for producing and sending out copies of these Wills.

David Drinkwater is progressively indexing the Forest of Dean 1858-1941 Wills and Admons, this index is available on our Web site on the Wills Index page.

Although, you cannot order these Wills direct from Gloucestershire Archives there are details on the bottom of our Wills Index page of how you can possibly obtain a copy of one of these Wills.
