Abel or Abell (General)

Occasionally I have seen posts where a forum member has referred to a publication
Which listed soldiers in Gloucestershire from centuries ago.
Does anyone know the name of this book or have access to it?
I am chasing down the possibility that there might have been soldiers by the family name of “Abel” or “Abell” or other spelling of this name.
( might have been an Ancestor of the Doctor Abell of Mitcheldean who has been mentioned on the Forum recently. )
I am looking at possibilities before the 19th century.
Thank you

Well, we Antipodeans should help each other Sid, even if you do persist in trying to steal our pavlova and Phar Lap. You can have Russell Crowe, no charge, no return.
