thanks again
I could not find these details at Gloucester RO so this helps to fill in the
picture. The Marshalls had only just moved to Tidenham , so obviously a difficult time for the family

Phylliis Marshall from Surrey living in Tidenham

I'm researching the life of Phyllis Marshall who lived at 'Offas Dyke' Tidenham from 1920. She died at Chepstow Hospital in 1979 aged 89.A stained glass window was installed in memory of her parents Edward and Fanny at Tidenham parish church in 1925
Edward Marshall's death was registered at Chepstow in 1919; he was a former Rector of West Monkton. I believe there may be a grandson who lived at Tidenham, also Edward , who would be a nephew of Phyllis.
'Offa's Dyke' was a house built for her father around 1918-9.

Ms Marshall went into partnership with Walter Boulds as part owners of coal seams at Mapleford colliery Coleford in the 1920s

My interest is in her collection of folk songs at West Monkton Somerset during the First World War.She does not seem to have continued this interest after she moved to Tidenham

I am writing an article for publication in a specialist journal and will be giving a presentation at Cecil Sharp House ( home of the English Folk Song and Dance Society ) in October this year. I am keen to find out more about Phyllis Marshall's life in Tidenham and would be grateful in anyone has any information about her.
She worked for the Girls Friendly Society before the Second World War for 3 different dioceses.

many thanks

Geoff Woolfe
