If you are after background information it might be useful to get in touch with the Forestry Commission about the DS's career as they may still have some staff records.

I know that in the 1960's they were producing yearbooks which included the national staff list, and showed staff promotions etc. There might even be something at the Coleford Office, which became the Dean's main office when Whitemead closed.
