Bridewell ( Christchurch - Shortstanding ?) (reply)

When I lived in Christchurch my kids (and me) used to sledge down Bridewell Tump on Christchurch Meend near the campsite. Christchurch is in fact Berry Hill, The Berry Hill school where they filmed Dennis Potters "Pennies from Heaven" in 1977 is still there next to the church, as locals will know. Fred

Where is Bridewell (reply)

Hi
There is also an area of Bristol called Bridewell, and was used as a temporary jail, until fairly recently it was a large police station. Bristol is about 40 miles from Forest of Dean.
