Thank you as ever Slowhands. I am nearing the end of my quest for the Phelps family, there are so many of the decendants of the Herbert/Phelps families in and around the mining areas near where we live that one would be hard pressed to find a true blue Yorkshire person. The majority of them have no idea that their ancestors originated in the Forest. Thanks again. Jean Herbert

Jesse or Jessie Phelps, parents John Phelps 1813 and Elizabeth Jackson.
Not too sure of his actual date of birth. 1871/1881 census give date of 1865 but I found the following baptism, which shows a different date. He could have been baptised at a later date.
