Hewelsfield as I have known it over the last sixty years

Hewelsfield our Village
http://www.forest-of-dean.net/joomla/stories-and-articles Hewelsfield_our_Village

Witten by P. A. Michael in 1964 and is sub-titled "Hewelsfield as I have known
it over the last sixty years.

This is a very interesting account of village life in Hewelsfield Village in the
early 1900s and he mentions many people who lived in the area at the time. Mr.
Michael's finishing statement is:

Also to those farmers who have come in to the place, carry on the good work of
those men who it was an honour to have known who worked hard, helped all and
enjoyed life and what was more could get the best out of land. If those farming
in the district today could only see how well kept the farms buildings and
houses were they would stop to wonder how those men with so little machinery
ever had time to think of helping others and finding time to meet their
neighbours and fellowmen.
-----------------
Many thanks to Gordon Williams who sent us the article and also to Bertha (our
resident Vaughan researcher) and Barbara Lloyd who between them re-typed the
pages of the article so I could put it into a PDF file.
