Ruardean Hill (reply)

I echo David's comments. On a trip to the FoD earlier this year we met a "local" who said many of the cottages on Ruardean Hill had been cleared by the council so I would love to see any pictures which may resemble what houses may have looked like for the miners in the 1850's and earlier. We also have records of ancestors resident on The Morse back to 1750 but could not locate much of what may remain there on our visit.
regards
Nigel

Ruardean Hill (reply)

Sam

I have always wondered what it was like at Ruardean Hill as I never saw that
part when I visited the Forest many years back. Though, I suppose there is
little or nothing left that resembles how it was with the miners cottages of a
100 hundred years ago.

Photographs of how it is now in the Forest

Hi, I am planning on going around the Forest and taking photographs that capture the real beauty and essence of the place. If you would like me to capture specific things or places, I’m welcome to suggestions, I know how hard it can be to visualise where your ancestors came from if you are not local.

Please feel free to view my attempts so far and visit my webpage at http://samhale.photonation.co.uk

Thanks
