Anne MILES Coleford 1769/1770 - 1834 (reply)

Many thanks for your reply, MPGriffiths. I have come across this family before and they certainly appear to be possibles. However, I am still seeking that one piece of evidence that will prove beyond reasonable doubt that these are the ancestors that I am seeking. For example, if I can find a will of this Thomas MILES that mentions "my daughter Anne STEEL" then I will be content. A very happy Christmas to you and to all subscribers.

Anne MILES Coleford 1769/1770 - 1834 (reply)

As Thomas & Ann STEEL had children named as

William 1799
Anne 1802
Hannah 1806
Thomas

probably her parents were

Thomas & Ann MILES - residence Coleford, who had these children christened in Newland after 1769

1773 : Thomas, parents Thomas & Ann
1782 : John, parents Tho(ma)s & Ann
1787: Nelly, parents Tho(ma)s & Anne
1790: William, parents Thomas & Anne (2nd Thomas?)

---

Thomas MILES of Newland married Anne HOW - 21 May 1767 - check again, but the children of this couple start in Newland in 1773 - but lots of gaps - there are some possible other baptisms in various places

Anne MILES Coleford 1769/1770 - 1834

After many many years of searching, I still haven't found the birth/baptism of my great great great grandmother, Anne MILES. She first appears in 1798 when she married Thomas STEEL at Newland. She had four children in Coleford and died there in 1834. Her gravestone gives an age at death as 65, but as she died before any census, I have no idea where she was born.
