Being "a doubting Thomas" I am still looking for written confirmation of Hannah GUNDY`s daughter Jane being my great grandmother. Slowhands has given me a lot of help with this . On Henry`s marriage certificate(to Hannah GUNDY)henry gave the name Richard SMITH as his father .I would love to know who Henry`s father was It couldn`t be anyone with the surname SMITH. Jane was born before Hannah(her mother) married Mark GUNDY and her maiden name (JONES) was on the certificate) I cant help wondering why Jane`s parents didnt marry before or after she was born

Thanks once again for your help. You have found the Hariet who was on the marriage entry but once again I seem to have come to a dead end with my Henry JONES search. The only real clue i have about him is that he had a daughter, Jane Jones born 1855/56/57 who married my great grandfather Benjamin POWELL in 1873 at Chrisrchurch, West Dean.On the certificate it said "father Henry JONES, collier living at Berry Hill. I`ve not been able to find any document with father and daughter together. I was hoping that Harriet was Jane`s sister

On the Parish Records it gives Harriets age as 23 so assume she was born in 1854, it also gives a Thomas Jones as one of the witnesses

Marriage at All Saints Church, Viney Hill, Nov 24th 1877. Marriage record states New Rd, but doesn't say if it is Viney Hill or Blakeney. It does state that the Groom was from Viney Hill.

Hi Thank you once again for the info. On the marriage entry for Harriet Jones and Christopher JAMES it showed a Henry JONES as father and I thought it might help me sought out the Henry thing if I could see Harriet in the 1861 census hopefully with her father

No not Annexed, just included in the Monmouthshire census returns. In a later census parts of West Dean appear in Wales :-)

Sorry but I am confused. Does this mean that in 1861 The Forest Of Dean was annexed by Monmouthshire and was not in Gloucestershire? If so when did it return to Gloucestershire?
