I am Hezekial and Emma Freemans great great granddaughter. My Grandfather was Arthur Freeman who married Elizabeth and his daughter Kathleen Vera Freeman was my grandmother.

Sorry for delay in reply. In answer to your question. If John and Harriet had their grandson EDWIN FREEMAN living with them in the 1871 census then they are the parents of my emily eliza Morgan...If this is the case have you any info on edwin. I cant locate a birth certificate anywhere. Hope to hear from you soon

23 October 1832 Miles FREEMAN married Elizabeth CURTIS by Banns at Gloucester St Michael.

1851 Census tells us that Elizabeth was born Sapperton. This entry from IGI:
31 July 1808 Elizabeth CURTIS baptised at Sapperton. Parents: Richard CURTIS and Mary.

This may be Mary CURTIS in 1851:

Hello Lynda,

I agree the IGI is not reliable hence the use of the words "appear to".

The entry in the Marriage Certificate is obviously disconcerting but sadly errors do happen and it is often not helped by the fact that the participants often could not read or write.

I concur with Slowhands comment that being christened together does not make them twins. I have instances in my family. One case involved my father and a sister. My father is now 89 and his sister 91. In the case of Miles and John they are clearly shown as 42 and 45 respectively in the 1851 Census and in the 1841 Census there is a similar age difference.

Many thanks for your reply. Just a few issues. Firstly I agree with the assumption that Miles was Hezikiahs father and wonder why on his marriage certificate it states differently. I have questioned numerous experts on this issue and none can give a definate answer.
Whilst I have the same information gathered from the IGI, I have documentation from the parish records that Miles and John were baptised together on the 17th April 1808. I raised this with the archivist at Gloucester Records Office and she stated that the IGI was not to be relied upon and that as both children were baptised together and other siblings had been baptised seperately it was a good supposition that they were indeed twins

The ages of John and Miles are not the same so not twins either?

The IGI gives this baptism for Miles:
17 April 1808 at Duntisbourne Abbots. Parents John FREEMAN and Mary

John FREEMAN does not appear to have been baptised with Miles further suggesting they were not twins.

Firtstly, what an excellent site. Thank you.

I am trying to find history on my ancesters.

Hezikiah Freeman and Eliza Emma Morgan, where married in the parish of Lydbrook. Hezikiah was son of John (however there is documentation earlier questioning this). Without spending ages going through the records i have, i can safetly say that hezikiah is definately the son of either John or Miles (twins) Freeman from Duntisbourne Abbots.

I am in contact with a Laura Partridge and a Joanne Lewis, both these ladies have been very helpful in my research. Now i find I have lost documents i though I had. I am desperately seeking birth certs and baptisim records of Freemans in Lydbrook. I have been to the Gloucester records and can find no baptism records, so believe they must be nonconformists. If you can help in anyway PLEASE please contact me.
