RUSHWORTH family of Hope Mansel (reply)

Hi , i currently live in 1 flock cottage,My Mother lived in this village for many years and spoke of the rushworth family living in this house and attending Hope Mansell school, apparently a very large ,poor family in a very small house. This house was extended in the 1950.s originally having a double pitched roof (and it's attending problems) this was ammended to a single pitch roof in the 1960's.It is now a 3 bedroom semi-detatched property, but at the time of your relatives occupation, must have been little more than 2 up 2 down.During renovation work it is clear that the front door was where it is now,and the stairs was immediately accessed when entering, there is a cellar under the house, but i do know this was excavated by a tenant called Charlie marshall in the 60's

Unfortunately my mother died 2 years ago so any more info is not available from that source, she is survived by 4 brothers and 2 sisters, but as the oldest is some 10 years younger than my mother may be of little help.

Best of luck with your enquiries,
John Harding
