Hi Graham,

Have you considered Taysum as surname? Have seen this transcribed incorrectly many times!!! Taysum's were a large family in Glos.

Regards

Elizabeth LYSOM/SYSUM of Westbury on Severn

I am trying to clarify the maiden name, and if possible trace the family, of my 5x Gt Grandmother Elizabeth LYSOM/SYSUM of Westbury on Severn.

Elizabeth married William YOUNG, of Churcham, on 21 Jan 1761, at Westbury on Severn. The Banns for the marriage were read at Churcham on 7,14 & 21 Dec 1760. The PR Transcriptions state that the brides surname is unclear and best guess is given.

William Young was baptised on 31 Aug 1740 at Aston Ingham and his parents, John and Hester Young's residence is given as Bulley.

I have tried various spellings of Elizabeth's surname. The only one I have been able to trace has the surname of SYSUM and was baptised on 23 May 1727 at Newent. Her parents being Richard and Margeret SYSUM.

I have currently ruled her out because she would have been some 13 years Williams senior at the time of the marriage plus the last known child, Michael Young born 1772 would put her at the edge of her child bearing years
