Our Grandfather's brother who visited the house as a boy some years after World War 1, in his 1982 memoirs, described it as "having a gothic door arch and a garden stretching down to the river". I drove there today and the un-named house opposite the Ruardean road appears to fit that description. My sincere thanks.
