Gittings/Doane (reply)

Hi Tabitha and warm welcome to this forum and great website.
Sadly it maybe too late to get a reply from Diane Price, her post was 7 years ago and she doesn't appear to be active on the forum anymore (as denoted by her username being displayed in black, not blue), but I hope I'm wrong and she does see your post. Meanwhile hopefully the other replies in the thread help you, and if you have any more queries we will try and help.

Hello,

Pretty sure Kathleen was sister to my grandmother Gwendoline on my Dad's side. Gwendoline died in 1989 and I think Kathleen died in 1995. I don't know much about either but perhaps you know more?

Best
Tabitha

dates / ages (reply)

George Henry Gittings died in May 1940, aged 27. Born 8 May 1913 ... know he was born in England, married my grandmother Kathleen Sarah Doane born 11/5/1915 - they were married in Oxfordshire, probably Abingdon as George was based there before he went to war. Kathleen was born in Joyford to Ernest Doane and Bessie (Elizabeth) Marshall.

George's parents were George Gittings (1880-1913) and Plyna Elizabeth Carpenter (1874-1958) buried in St Briavels ... unfortunately don't know exact dates.
