Hi, sorry I haven’t been on here for awhile, and my information isn’t going to be of any help really but I am the granddaughter of Albert Sydney John and Agnes Nicholls. (They adopted me and brought me up so I class them as my
Mother and farther)I remember Uncle fred very well, I also remember his children who were a lot older than myself, I remember being told as I got older that Fred never had the same farther but unfortunately wasn’t told who his farther was. Sorry I am unable to help you with this information, good luck in your search, my son was speaking to someone earlier originally from Coleford who are from the Smith family, I have also come to look for information on the Smith family to see if we are related to the Same family my son spoke to earlier,

I’m trying to identify the birth father of my grandfather FREDERICK DENNIS SMITH, born 22 August 1925 (birth registered Westbury on Severn, Vol 6a Page 412). His father is not listed on the birth certificate.

MOTHER: Caroline Edith SMITH (married name Carrie NICHOLLS, 1908–1997), who lived at The Scowles

STEP FATHER: Frederick Sydney NICHOLLS (1901–1948) sometimes referred to as Sidney J. . Frederick took the Nicholls surname.

HALF-SIBLINGS: Albert Sydney John, Charles W. E., and Robert H. ("Bobby").

WIFE: Nora Lillian Margaret COLE (1924–2016)

CHILDREN: Ken, Jeff, Carol, Denise, Roy, David (1946-1946)

I’m hoping to find any clues about his birth father or evidence of other children he may have had.

Any advice on where to search next would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone knows about Rhoda "Rose" Smith (1919-2001) that lived in Five Acres it would be helpful. She married John Sidaway (1916-2003) I am trying to find the names of her children and if she possibly gave up a child for adoption. She was Carrie's sister.
