hya im claire rons daughter im so sorry to hear about your mum i did write to her once about my grandad but didnt get no reply sadly i never met her, since dad and nan died been trying to trace anything to do with with my grandad but keep hitting a wall until now so i am so very grateful for you getting in touch with me hopefully with the info i have on here now i will be able to trace our family back quite a way i have checked this site over and over and never nothing new, then found an old picture on a site of a work outing with a few giles on it showed my sister then showed her what i was given on here and there was all this new info so thank you again so very much and again so sorry to hear about your mum take care claire

I am one of Gladys Adlam's (nee Giles) sons, Stephen. My Mum was Harold's sister. Sadly, Mum passed away on 1st August this year and it was her funeral yesterday which is what prompted me to find out a little bit more about her roots. We use to live a few streets away from (Auntie) Hilda and saw her almost every day when we were growing up. My memories of (Uncle) Harold are very vague. I have vague memories of Ronnie Giles and I met his son Kevin at the funeral yesterday. (Auntie) Olive is the only surviving sibling.

Norah L G Griffin 1898, daughter of Charles Griffin & Annie Giles, married Louis John Nelmes 1898 on Sep 13 1919, 2 children John 1921, Eileen 1933.

My interest here is that Louis John Nelmes 1898 is the son of Frederick Nelmes 1868/1936 & Laura Emily Marfell 1 Apr 1873/1924, daughter of Benjamin Marfell 1837/1922 & Elizabeth Mason 1837/1923, who have featured on a number of postings and whose photograph is posted on this web site.

hi can anyone help me trace my grandad his name was harold giles and he was born in cinderford and i no he had two sisters called olive and gladys he also had brothers he married hilda dixon and had a son called ronald leslie giles if anyone has heard of this family could you please contact me i would be extremely gratful i was also told he had brothers who had a garage in cinderford but only no surname giles.
