Spot on as ever, I would have got there eventually as my own extract of the 1891 Census contained in my notes reveals the answer :

Elizabeth is Elizabeth nee Mutlow born 1835 to Robert Mutlow 1777 & Elizabeth. She married my 2nd cousin 3 times removed James Marfell 1826/1886. He is one of a few in my Family Tree to be christened twice, the first 12 March 1823 Kings Caple, the second 26 September 1829 Llangharron. James being the son of Enoch Marfell 1797/1869 & his first wife Elizabeth Hardwick 1792/1836. He too was an Inn Keeper in 1851 with his second wife Ann nee Newberry

In the 1891 Census above the visitor Richard Meek 32 married Elizabeth Marfell's daughter Elizabeth A Marfell 30.

Thanks for the information. It has now set me a bit of a challenge finding which of the Elizabeth Marfell's I have in my Family Tree is the right one.

My Family Tree software allows sophisticated searches so I have asked it to show all Elizabeth's (670 in my Tree) but restricting it to those who remained single with surname Marfell or married a Marfell, also for elimination, date of death.

So far from those that qualify, no joy !!

Robert YEMM 1858, China Court Inn, Morse, Drybrook (reply)

This newspaper article suggests Robert Yemm became landlord of the China Court in 1894. According to the Easywell GlosPubs website, E.Marfell was landlord at the 1891 Census. It's believed the China Court Inn had closed before WW1, the building is now a private residence.

Reported in the Cardiff Evening Express of 28th April 1894

"At the petty sessions at Littledean on Friday, on the application of Mr John Wysome, of Usk, Monmouthshire, the licence of the China- court Beerhouse, the Morse, Drybrook, was transferred from Elizabeth Marfell, widow, to Robert Yemm, of the Plump."

Robert Yemm and Leah Kate White ran the Nelson Arms in Ruardean and he also trained horses.

LEAH Kate White born 1868 died January 7, 1959 in Hamilton, Ontario. She married ROBERT YEMM 1858 son of Richard Yemm & Jane Phelps - Richard Yemm died in 1860 and Jane married William Barnard 1833 in 1866, hence the Barnard name. Robert Yemm died 1955 and was buried Fruitland Cemetery, Stoney Creek, Ontario. Canada.

Leah Kate's sister Alice Barnard 1871 married Willard Barnard 1866, son of William Barnard and Jane Phelps.

The Nelson Arms public house in Morse Road,Drybrook was run by a family by the name of Yemm in the 1920s. The family were neighbours of my mother's family. They emigrated to Canada, I believe, and kept in touch with my mother until the 1940s.
